WHAT MAKES THE MAINE NURSING WRAP SO SPECIAL?
Created by a Mama of one whilst on maternity leave, every part of the wrap method was designed in mind for all mamas to make their life easier. Made using a breathable, natural and super soft fabric with just enough stretch to comfortably fit all shapes. Our wraps are Oeko-Tex certified so you know there is no harmful chemicals, keeping baby’s delicate skin safe.
WHAT ARE YOUR WRAPS MADE FROM?
Unlike other typical baby wraps which are made with Modal (semi-synthetic) we use mother nature’s source – cotton. Modal has recently been touted as ‘sustainable’, but it requires much more environmental stressors to produce this fabric, with many using Woodstock pulp which contributes to rainforest deforestation and categorised as a Class D Fabric. *
Cotton however is a Class A fabric, sustainably sourced, ethical and has been around for hundreds of years - that we know the best way to harvest and produce it economically.
CAN YOUR WRAP FIT IN MY PRAM OR NAPPY BAG?
Of course! We provide all our Nursing wraps with a cotton canvas (Fairtrade) bag which has a drawstring to quickly grab and go. Perfect for storing your wrap on the move, and when you no longer nurse or babywear, can store your weaning snacks or babys toys.
WHEN CAN I START USING A WRAP WITH MY BABY?
Babywearing is best from as soon as baby arrives, it provides a gentle transition from womb to world. You will always have a snug, custom fit and our wrap is ideal to use within the first 6 months of your baby’s life for optimum hip healthy development.
It can however be worn for longer if Mama’s back can take the weight of little one growing bigger! For this, we recommend a Hip Wrap or Front Wrap Carry. If you or baby have any special circumstances, we recommend connecting with your medical professional prior to wearing or your local sling consultancy.
CAN I WEAR MY BABY FACING FORWARD OR ON MY BACK?
No, please do not do this. It is not recommended and will place pressure on your baby’s spine and joints, whilst also increasing the risk of baby falling out. In addition, this is not advised for the wearer’s back support.
HOW CAN I KEEP BABY SAFE?
The Bon + Bear Maine Nursing Wrap has been acknowledged by the IHDI (International Hip Dysplasia Institute) as ‘hip-healthy’ when used as directed. www.hipdyaplasia.org
This is especially important in the first few months after birth when baby’s hips are still developing. Our wrap helps to promote the healthy development of their hips when babywearing.
It is always the parents responsibility to use this product as recommended according to the safety guidelines, and to always keep your baby attended. Bon + Bear will not be held responsible for any injuries due to misuse or careless babywearing.
Safety testing of individual products is not a requirement for baby slings in the UK nor does it indicate that the product is better than any other. Safety can only be guaranteed by the wearer - Baby Sling Safety
I FEEL LIKE MY BABY ISN’T TOTALLY SECURE WHILE CARRYING. AM I DOING SOMETHING WRONG?
If in doubt, always pull tighter when wrapping! Don’t worry about thinking there will be no room for baby, this just means you are doing it right. Keep the wrap as flat as possible to your body also, avoiding twists in the fabric. Lastly, adjust so that the ‘X’ is higher on your back so that baby is closer to you too.
As the instruction guide with our wrap, always remember TICKS (Used with permission of UK Sling Consortium).

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY WRAP?
We know you may end up spilling milk (bottle or breast!), but we recommend limiting how often you wash your wrap and instead wiping with a damp cloth. Avoid washing with buttons or zips to avoid snagging the fabric too. For more info see our care guide.
